Gone are the days when all gaming laptops were giant 17-inch notebooks with chassis designs that were two or more inches thick and weighed enough to smother a puppy. The Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro is a modern gaming notebook focused on delivering a high-end PC gaming experience on the road. This laptop measures just 0.9 by 15.3 by 10.1 inches and weighs 5.29 pounds. The size and weight are more in line with a typical 15-inch consumer laptop ¡ and, unfortunately, so is the overall design. The Aspire V 15 Nitro is wrapped in thin, black plastic with a matte ¡°soft touch¡± paint covering the exterior. hp t610 thin client power cord You won't find a stylized exterior inspired by stealth aircraft on this gaming laptop; this is all about delivering quality performance in an affordable package. The screen lid is covered in the same thin black plastic used on the rest of the chassis but the lid is textured with a pattern of thin ridges across the lid. The metal hinge has a satin finish that wraps around the back edge of the notebook and also covers the air vents. On the bright side, the internal support frame from the chassis is quite good; meaning the notebook feels solid in your hands instead of feeling cheap and hollow. The overall design of the Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro compares well to the similarly priced Lenovo Y50 gaming laptop. While the Lenovo suffers from some smudge-prone glossy plastics in a few places, the Acer keeps everything smooth and clean with matte surfaces. samsung np900x3a battery That said, the flat keys on the Aspire V 15 Nitro aren't nearly as comfortable as the curved keys on the Lenovo Y50 when typing or playing games for several hours (more on that in the keyboard section below). As with most gaming notebooks with a thin-and-light design, the Aspire V 15 Nitro isn't the ideal choice for gamers who want to upgrade their notebooks after purchase. You won't find any quick access panels on the bottom of the chassis; you'll have to disassemble the entire bottom half of the laptop if you want to replace the battery, the M.2 format SSD, the standard 2.5-inch hard drive, or the wireless card.
Display
The Nitro Black is a member of the growing club of laptops with 4K displays, but this screen isn't as bright as it is colorful. On the plus side, the 15.6-inch, 3840 x 2160 panel offers wide viewing angles with solid color reproduction. power adapter for dell latitude e6430 Watching the 4K "Interstellar" trailer, the sky blazed a brilliant blue despite a huge billowy dust cloud. Matthew McConaughey's eyes were often the focal point of every scene, adding an intense contrast to his brown, weathered skin. The panel showed off the minute indentations in his spacesuit as well as the fine wrinkles and furrows crisscrossing his face. When tested for color reproduction, the Nitro Black hit 97.8 percent, higher than the 83.9 percent category average and the Y70 Touch (87 percent). It's only slightly below the HP Omen and the GS60 Ghost, both of which measured 98 percent. However, colors were far from accurate. On the Delta-E test, the Nitro Black notched 10.5, which is far from the perfect 0 ideal and the category average of 6. pa5013u 1brs battery The Omen was somewhat better at 10.1, while the Y70 Touch and GS60 scored 2.7 and 2.9, respectively. The Nitro Black's display might be super-high res, but it's not that bright. The laptop hit only 212 nits on the light meter, below the 253 mainstream average. That's much brighter than the Y70 Touch's measly190 nits. However, it's barely a flicker compared with the Omen (269 nits) and the Ghost (299 nits)
Software and Warranty
Despite targeting gamers, Acer stuffed the Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition to the gills with multimedia and productivity apps. For fans of Google Docs, Acer has put together a suite of cloud-based, bring-your-own-computer apps that syncs all your Microsoft Office apps across devices. abDocs lets you access Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, while abFiles allows access to every file on your notebook, buy chargers for samsung gt n8020 including ZIP on your mobile device.Acer has rebranded its multimedia Clear.Fi apps, Clear.Fi Photo and Video into ab programs. The apps still aggregate all of your photos and videos, allowing access across devices.Other Acer-branded software includes the diagnostic-focused Care Center, Recovery Management and Power Management. The company also included Quick Access, which lets you toggle settings for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Network Sharing.
Case
Acer installs very powerful hardware in a relatively slim, 24 mm (~0.95 inches) casing. The laptop looks even thinner because the base unit's underside tapers off to the sides. lenovo z50 70 charger buy The casing is made completely of black, matte plastic, and the base unit's upper part has a light rubber coating. The lid's back features a vertical line texture. Acer has not treated its laptop to a maintenance hatch, but the casing is quite easy to open. After removing all screws on the underside, the laptop is turned right way up again. The base unit's upper side can then be removed carefully. We used a putty knife for this. It is recommended to start below the large sticker. Note: the upper shell is connected to the motherboard with three ribbon cables. The base unit does not exhibit any major weaknesses in stiffness. It can only be dented marginally under the touchpad. hp deskjet f4580 power supply The base unit's rigidness is within the standard. The lid can be warped more distinctly, which also causes image distortions. In addition, it also produces a noise that sounds like crackling plastic film. Image distortions only occur in some places when pressure is applied to the lid's back. The hinges keep the lid firmly in position, but wobble slightly. It is just still possible to open the lid with one hand.
Performance
Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro (VN7-591G-75S2) The Aspire V 15 Nitro is outfitted with a 2.5GHz Intel Core i7-4710HQ quad-core processor, the same processor found in both the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 3K$1,974.99 at Amazon and the Maingear Pulse 15, but only half the memory of those systems, at 8GB of RAM. The resulting performance is still quite good. It completed PCMark 8 Work Conventional with 3,160 points and finished Photoshop CS6 in just 4 minutes 11 seconds. This is actually better PCMark 8 performance than both the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 3K (2,988 points) and the Maingear Pulse 15 (3.047 points), but in Photoshop, the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 3K (3:26) and the Maingear Pulse 15 (3:29) were both faster. However, these scores do put the Aspire V 15 Nitro ahead of other similarly priced gaming laptops, like the Lenovo Y50 Touch, which scored 3,047 points in PCMark 8 and finished Photoshop in 4:20.Processing power is only part of the equation for a gaming laptop. Equipped with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M with 2GB of dedicated memory¡ªthe same GPU used in the Lenovo Y50 Touch¡ªperformance is good for an entry-level system. The Aspire V 15 Nitro scored 15,727 points in CloudGate (our 3DMark medium-settings test) and 1,796 points in FireStrike Extreme (our 3DMark high-performance test), outpacing the Lenovo Y50 Touch in both. It also did well in gaming tests, cranking out 21 frames per second (fps) in Heaven and 24fps in Valley, both at full HD and high-detail settings. Despite its entry-level price, the Aspire V 15 Nitro can handle current titles just fine, though you might need to dial down the resolution and detail settings for optimum performanceBattery life isn't bad either, with the Aspire V 15 Nitro lasting 4 hours 10 minutes in our battery rundown test. This puts it right in line with competitors, like the Editors' Choice MSI GX70 3Be-007US, which lasted 4:16, or the samsung ac adapter np740u3e (4:33). It also puts it nearly an hour ahead of the higher-priced m15x battery (3:17) and Maingear Pulse 15 (3:13). And, thanks to Nvidia's automatic power management features, you can actually enjoy some gaming on battery power.
